What is a Golf Calcutta?
A Calcutta is an auction-style betting pool held before a golf tournament. Participants bid on individual golfers or teams, and the highest bidder "owns" that player for the duration of the event.
All bids go into a shared prize pool. When the round is over, the owners of the top-finishing players win a payout — making every shot on the course personal, whether you're swinging the club or watching from the clubhouse.
How It Works
- Golfers register and are listed before the auction begins.
- Bidders place bids to "buy" a golfer. The highest bid wins ownership.
- All bid money is collected into the prize pot.
- The tournament is played. Scores are tracked throughout the round.
- Payouts are distributed to the owners of the top finishing golfers.
Our Tournament
The Guthrie Center Golf Calcutta is an annual community event bringing together local golfers and supporters. It's a great day of golf, good company, and the thrill of having a stake in the game — even if you've never picked up a club.
Proceeds and participation help support the Guthrie Center community. We're proud to keep this tradition alive year after year.
